Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #21 to feature interior art by Kevin Eastman

Right after the conclusion of the epic Krang War storyline, TMNT fans will be treated to a special one shot story in Issue 21. the story is will be fully drawn by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman. Check out what kevin had to say about the issue, as well as some beautiful preview pages, thanks to a CBR interview.

From interview:

CBR: You said the Turtles have been taking their status as ninja experts for granted in the series so far. Does that mean the Turtles will be taken down a peg in issue #21?

Kevin: That was essentially what we wanted to do. What I suggested is that they have a lot of skill but they’re mutants so we assume their abilities are above those of normal humans, but that requires you to assume a lot.

When Tom designed the new IDW “Turtles” universe, which has taken parts from the original “Turtles” black and white series, parts of the animated series and bits and pieces of the movies rolled in to one to make this new universe, the new origin story for the Turtles was that they were boys who were killed by the original Shredder back in feudal Japan. They were still very, very young, and whether they’re mutant turtles or young boys, they still haven’t completed their journey.

IDW announces “City Fall” a turtles event that will see Leonardo go to the dark side and join the Shredder!

IDW has announced, through an interview with CBR, that massive story-line will be introduced with Issue #21 which might see Leonardo join the Shredder. The 7 issue arc will also introduce some favorite mutants and see Hun (from the 2k3 series) make his IDW Debut.

Another great news, is the fact that Mateus Santolouco, the great artist behind the History of the first Clan’s 1st issue, will be the main ongoing artist for the IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles books. Anybody else is excited as i am ?

From the CBR interview:

CBR News: IDW’s Turtles series has been working hard to set up the big pieces of the universe from issue #1, and there have been long-running plot threads within that. At what point did this “Cityfall” story become a part of the larger plan?

Review: Secret History of The Foot Clan #1

IDW will release tomorrow the first issue of its new TMNT related spin-off, titled Secret History of The Foot Clan. Looking at the book i really did not know what to expect, but boy, was i for a surprise.

From the first page, you know you are in for a different kind of story. A story of samurais and ninjas, trust and betrayal. The book opens up in feudal Japan, where a legendary killer is been betrayed by the Damiyo. In fact the assassin was so skilled that he was able to defeat a whole army, but at the cost of losing his “Foot” (see what i’m doing there). We then learn through a professor at April’s University, that this man, who through a deal with a witch and a “demon”, is the founder of the, deadly, foot clan.

Talking more about the story will only spoil the surprises of the issue, especially the last page, which i am sure it will leave a lot of you in awe. So i will stop talking story details and i will talk more about the story style.

Well folks, if you happen to be a fan of IDW’s TMNt comics reboot (and who isn’t) then this is your day! TMNTLair: It has been a little over a year since the launch of the TMNT comics reboot, and it does seem that the IDW books have found a big following from the turtles fans. What can you tell us about the success of the book, and was this something expected from the start?
