Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles #25 Preview/Review

“CITY FALL” part 4: City Fall continues as Shredder reveals his new second-in-command: Leonardo! While the underworld readies their armies, the Turtles must come together if they have any hope of saving their brother. Don’t miss this landmark 25th issue that sees the launch of a full-scale war on New York City! The Savate, Foot Clan, and Slash are all back — along with a couple of shocking special guests!

Mini Review:

The 4th issue in the City Fall story arc kicks the story into a full gear as the war between the Foot and The Savate is about to begin. Shredder is pleased with Leo’s performance, Splinter decides to make a difficult choice by joining a sworn enemy, and Karai has her own plans which involves creating two fan favorite mutants to be her subordinates.

Santolouco’s art is great, but can’t help to feel the Nick’s TMNT influence, which sometimes hurt the visuals especially when it comes to Donatello and Michelangelo, who seemed that they are getting younger by the issue.

Make way for BeBop and Rocksteady in the IDW TMNT Comics

Big news for fans of the 80’s show. IDW has just announced during their San Diego Comic panel that fan favorites Bebop and Rocksteady will make their IDW debut after the events of City Fall. Not only that, but a cover art for a Villain micro issue dedicated to the duo was officially released. Check it out below:

Other info from the IDW TMNT Panel (courtesy of Comic Vine)

  • Expect Karai to play a bigger role in the conflict as Leo grows closer to Shredder. This is obvious but awesome nonetheless.
  • The team says they want to keep introducing elements from everything we’ve seen in other incarnations of the Turtles (cartoons, movies, each comic series).
  • Hun will debut in issue #25.
  • They provided a first look at issue #29 (post ‘City Fall’) and the story is called ‘Northampton.’ It’ll be four issues and illustrated by Ross Campbell.
  • They revealed the always awesome Mateus is onboard to be the artist as long as possible. Much more to come from him.
  • Alopex’s micro will definitely have repercussions.
  • Karai’s micro written by Burnham. It surrounds her frustration over the Foot Clan’s direction. The issue’s antagonist is Dark Leo and we got to see a glimpse of them clashing.

The Shredder’s real name in Bay’s upcoming Ninja turtles is….

William Fichtner Shredder William Fichtner Talks Shredder in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reboot

“Eric Sachs”.

Yep, it is not Oruku Saki, the great warrior from Japan, no it is a dude called Eric. this is according to the actor playing the role, William Fichtner. I am just not gonna say anything more than this: The shredder’s name is Eric. Below is the actor’s full statement:

I actually play a guy named Eric Sachs [Sounds like Sachs? Hard to understand] in the movie. And then he goes through a few stages in his existence. But Turtles is coming together very, very cool. There is a whole interesting dynamic that happens in the world of Turtles and all I can really say about it at this point while working on it is that the Turtle film, it’s not like anything that I remember about the Turtles before. I feel like this Michael Bay-produced movie is just gonna really be something else. I’m pretty excited.”

Sigh!
